Cheap and efficient - neonatal resuscitation

Neonatal resuscitation is one of the most cost-effective medical interventions. With a straightforward intervention administered immediately at birth, lives can be saved by couteracting lack of oxygen to the brain immediately at birth.

This procedure requires only very simple and inexpensive equipment (a ventilation bag/mask and a suctioning device for under 30.- CHF) and most importantly needs to be paired with education in neonatal resuscitation

Dr. Pfister and Dr. Exhenry have provided resuscitation courses to more than 300 local pediatricians and 250 medical students in Western and Central Africa, with the strategic support of the local pediatric societies of Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Senegal and of the University Hospitals of Geneva, as well as with the financial support of Nestlé Nutrition Institute Africa.
